Service 03 / 08 — Gaming

The Gaming Salon

Nine tables, forty pokies and a bar that keeps pouring till three. Everything happens at the venue, in person, with chips you can hold — there is no online version of this room, and there never will be.

The room

Floor plan

Tables centre, pokies east wall, bar north. Sightlines checked from every stool.

A casino the size of a good dinner party, run like one.

We are not trying to be Las Vegas. The salon holds nine tables, and the dealers know the regulars by name and by tip preference. Blackjack starts at five dollars on weeknights, roulette spins till late, and the poker table runs a friendly no-limit game on Thursdays that has ended in handshakes more often than grudges.

House rules fit on one card: 18+ with photo ID, chips only at the tables, and the staff will call you a taxi before they let you drive anywhere questionable. The venue is licensed by the Department of Internal Affairs, and Host Responsibility training is refreshed every six months. Our terms of service spell out the rest.

Table service

Drinks come to the table, and the coffee is better than it needs to be at 01:00.

Before you come

Asked at the rail, answered here.

Anything else, the contact page reaches a human on shift.

No. Chips are bought with cash or EFTPOS at the cage, which keeps the whole thing honest and the pace humane.

Indoors, no — NZ law and house policy agree. The terrace has heaters and an ashtray policy that is strictly enforced.

Tuesdays, 19:00 — the dealers walk beginners through blackjack and roulette with play chips. Free, and genuinely useful.

Tables open till 03:00 weekends

The felt is waiting, and the wheel doesn't sleep.

Groups of six or more can pre-book a table through the front desk. Everyone else — just walk in with ID.
